If you’re already in our free Facebook Group, The Social Media Managers Hub (and if you’re not, it’s linked down below!), you might have noticed that we’ve never once used that horrible @everyone tag that honestly just pisses people off when they get a notification that isn’t even relevant to them. It’s led a lot of group admins to believe that a lack of engagement is because people aren’t seeing their posts, when in reality, it’s actually often caused by either a lack of a good group of people who want to engage with each other, or a lack of interesting posts to engage on.

We’ve run multiple successful Facebook Groups over the years and always come back to Facebook as a great platform to host a community. For that reason, we’re often being asked if we think social media managers should create their own groups – that’s part of the focus of today’s episode, but we do think that if you decide to make a group, it can be such a great tool for lead generation and building your network. Growing a Facebook Group can be really difficult though, so in this episode we’ll also be going into all the non-sleazy techniques of how to get your group out there, without an @everyone tag in sight. Join us if creating a community is on your list of things to do in 2024!

In this episode, we’re chatting about:

  • Why Facebook Groups have been so important to the running of our business over the years
  • The reason that admins get hooked into using the @everyone tag and why it just frustrates the users!
  • Whether you should create your own Facebook Group
  • Top tips and techniques for increasing your group engagement organically
