Expenses are one of those things that all too often, freelancers bury their head in the sand about. We know it sounds kind of complicated, but in today’s episode, we’re sharing a list of things that you probably can be expensing but might not be already!

When it comes to expenses, you need to remember that these things you’re spending money on are essentials you need in order to run your business. So there’s no point asking what’s the best free scheduler or which one people recommend for £5 per month – you need to be working out which one is going to enable you to do your job to the best of your ability, because here’s the kicker – it’s going to reduce your tax bill!

Of course, you do need to be able to afford it, so we’re not saying go off and spend thousands of pounds a month on tools, devices, and other expenses if the money isn’t there in your bank account (yet!). But shift the lens from “this is a nice to have” to “this will get my clients the best results”.

Tune into the episode to hear our suggestions for what you might want to start expensing – all compiled from a real accountant!

In this episode, we’re chatting about:

  • Why it’s a great idea to expense as much as you can
  • How to keep track of your expenses
  • General rules about expensing things and why it’s not as complicated as you might think
  • Different ideas of things you should be able to expense as a social media manager
