Recently, we were on the ‘potential client’ end of a discovery call, and let us tell you… it was BAD. Like, shockingly bad. Thankfully, the people we had the call with weren’t social media managers, or in our social media world, but honestly – perhaps we ought to broaden the target audience of the toolkit so that other service providers can learn how to do a great discovery call too?!

We don’t want to spoil any of the juicy details – it’s a real story time in today’s episode. What we can say is if you’re interested in hearing about why it’s important not to let your discovery calls go 45 minutes over their booked time, which Laura you probably shouldn’t phone up and how long is too long to wait before sending a proposal, we don’t think you can hit play fast enough!

In this episode, we’re chatting about:

  • What happened on this call that was so bad
  • The importance of communication and asking questions
  • Why following through on your promises is so important
  • How to be polite on a phone call

Jump straight to it…

[01:13] Booking the call and initial impressions

[02:21] How the call went down

[08:20] The follow up call and the proposal that never was

[12:33] Cancelling the follow up
