If you’re a social media manager managing Instagram for clients, you’re probably spending more time than you need to when it comes to creating Instagram Stories and Reels.
There are some simple ways to create eye-catching content that converts for your clients within the Instagram app itself. But to stand out, you might be tempted to use external apps when creating your Instagram Reels and Stories.
But with so many video editing apps out there, where do you even start?
We’ve done the hard work for you and uncovered five fantastic editing apps to help social media managers create scroll-stopping content for your client's Instagram Stories & Reels.
And the good news is that these video editing apps also work really well to create content for Facebook, TikTok and even YouTube and LinkedIn.
Top 5 Video Content Creation Apps For Social Media Managers
InShot
This app is recommended almost daily in our membership, and it’s not just popular with our members – over 200,000 people on the App store agree!
Inshot includes music and transition effects; you can add voiceovers and even reverse your videos. We love it for turning short clips into one seamless video and resizing videos for different platforms. Once you’ve created a video in InShot, you can share it directly to a platform or save it to your device to share later.
InShot has some great tutorials on their TikTok channel, including how to quickly create a clone video which we’ve seen work really well on Instagram & TikTok.
Lumen5
This desktop tool is a super simple tool to create videos in any format from blogs and other written content.
Simply paste the URL into Lumen5, and it will create a video like the one at the top of this blog for free! There are paid upgrades available if you want to remove branding and add brand colours, but with so many options available, you probably won’t need that.
We’ve also used Lumen5 to turn our recent blog about why people don’t engage with your social media posts into a YouTube video.
TikTok in-app editor
You don’t need to be a TikTok manager to use its video builder! The TikTok builder includes AR effects and filters and its text-to-voice tool is fantastic for simple voice-overs when your client isn’t keen to provide audio themselves.
The best thing about TikTok is that they are constantly updating it to add new features to enable you to create even better videos – plus, it's free!
And if you’re not sure how to use the TikTok builder, then spend some time on TikTok, and you’ll soon spot other TikTok-ers sharing tips and tricks to help you get started!

Mojo
Since Instagram decided to let the world know that it is ‘no longer a photo app’, we’ve seen the rise of any kind of motion videos performing far better than static images. And they don’t have to be hard to create.
The Mojo app has lots of animated templates for you to choose from and edit to your brand style, and you can easily add photos, videos and even your own fonts and logos!
Using Mojo to create eye-catching stories is a great way to get more eyeballs on a podcast or blog. Check out this tutorial to see how.
Canva
You didn’t think we’d write an article about apps without including Canva, did you?
Canva has come a long way over the years, and its app is now far more user-friendly than ever before. With animation options, a vast video library and the option to add Gifs and music, Canva is probably one of the most versatile apps for creating Reels and Stories.
We’ve used Canva's Giphy integration to quickly create Reels like this one which has worked really well for us in the past.
Munch
Ok, I know we said this blog would have five tools, but we couldn't update it without adding an extra one – trust us, you'll be glad we did!
If your clients ever give you long-form videos to repurpose, or insist on recording in landscape format when you need it in portrait, then you will love this tool.
Munch reformats your videos using AI, so the main point is always in focus. The only downside is that the video needs to be available online somewhere already, but you could upload to YouTube and leave it unlisted.
We've played around with this, and it's fantastic!
Now you know the best tools to use, it’s time to get fully on board with Instagram Reels.
