hello

... even with a small audience
… before creating a portfolio
… and without a single testimonial!

We asked our Instagram followers if they wanted us to review their content, and we're sharing the first one with you so you can learn too!

(Before we start, a quick caveat – we don't know what the objective of the accounts/content so we can't go into as much depth as we would do on one of our popular content review calls.)

With all that in mind, let's dive in!

This is the account we're reviewing for a virtual assistant / social media manager.

Here are our thoughts…

1) Pin posts strategically

The account uses a pinned banner, but the posts don't have any captions, which is a huge missed opportunity. We shared a whole post about pinning posts here, so we won't go into too much detail on this here, but we would highly recommend you have a read!

2) Add curiosity to your hooks.

Hooks are so crucial on social media, particularly on Instagram, where you want to do 3 things:

  • Stop the scroll
  • Stand out from other content
  • Get someone to tap YOUR post to read/watch more

A question like the one in this post might not do that because it's easy to say yes/no in your mind and move on.

Strong hooks create curiosity to read more, for example, ‘Are you making these BIG mistakes with your website?' or “Are you losing bookings with these website errors?”

There are 23 one-liner hooks here to inspire you.

3) Lead with the problem to sell the solution.

This Reel cover might be more clickable if you lead with the problem people are facing (because the likelihood is that no one is wondering what an Instagram page refresh is).

We'd also recommend using the caption to add more value, tips and advice to position yourself as THE person the viewer should hire for a refresh, remembering SEO to get the post seen by more people regardless of the platform you work on.

📌 As an added tip, if you want to sell more 1:1 services, we'd recommend crafting a truly irresistible offer and planning out a strategic launch campaign to maximise sales. Single promotional posts don't work and often leave you feeling deflated, which we definitely don't want!

Psst… We teach you how to craft an irresistible offer and run a launch campaign in The Social Media Managers Toolkit.
