As a freelance social media manager, your website is your online calling card. It showcases your expertise, attracts potential clients, and ultimately drives conversions. And, before you ask… YES social media managers really do need a website!

A well-designed website can make all the difference in securing new clients and growing your business. We've put together a list of ideas to help you create an engaging and effective website.

1. Use a Pre-Qualifying System (Not a “Book a Call” Button)

This might ruffle a few feathers… but we don’t recommend adding a ‘Book a Discovery Call’ button straight to your website or portfolio.

Why? Because that’s how you end up spending hours on Zoom with people who aren’t ready, aren’t the right fit, or don’t understand your pricing.

A better system is to ask people to apply to work with you — don’t invite them to chat with you until you know they’re serious.

That means adding a pre-qualifying step to your website or portfolio page. Instead of a calendar link, use an application form (or questionnaire) to find out things like:

  • What support they’re looking for
  • Their industry and business size
  • Whether they’ve worked with a social media manager before
  • Their budget and timeline

This helps you protect your time, avoid awkward “you’re too expensive” conversations, and only book calls with people who are genuinely ready to invest.

How to do this in Hubsy

You can set up this whole process easily inside Hubsy.

  • Create an application form using Hubsy Forms
  • Embed it on your portfolio page, service page, website, funnel or blog post — wherever people are most likely to enquire
  • You can even add it to your link-in-bio page so people from Instagram or TikTok go straight into your pre-qualifying system (not your DMs)

Best bit? When someone fills out your form, Hubsy can automatically:

✅ Add them to your CRM
✅ Send them a confirmation email
✅ Notify you in your inbox or Slack
✅ Start a workflow (e.g. send pricing info, prep them for a discovery call, or let them book a time)

This isn’t just more professional — it helps you attract better clients, faster.

2. Case Studies

Show your website visitors what it’s like to work with you by showcasing your past successes in detailed case studies.

Demonstrate how you've helped clients achieve their social media goals and the results you've delivered. Include relevant metrics and data, visuals, and concise explanations to make your case studies compelling and persuasive.

Often the best case studies start by explaining the challenges a business was facing before working with you and the journey you went through to achieve success.

3. Testimonials

Add credibility to your website with testimonials from satisfied clients.  Reach out to past clients and request a short quote or review of your work.  These testimonials will serve as social proof and help potential clients feel confident in your abilities.

4. Expertise-Driven Blog Content

Create a blog that highlights your expertise in social media management.

Share valuable tips, industry updates, and strategies to engage your audience and showcase your knowledge. By providing valuable information, you'll establish yourself as a trusted authority in the field.

5. About Page

Write an About page that speaks directly to your target audience. Instead of focusing solely on your own background and experience, emphasise how your skills and expertise can help potential clients achieve their social media goals.

Use clear language and address the specific pain points and challenges your dream clients face.

You should include photos of yourself throughout your website and particularly on your about page.

6. Recommendations Page

Consider creating a dedicated page where you recommend products and services to your website visitors. Then be strategic and use affiliate links for each option to create an additional source of income while also providing value to your audience. Some tools you could recommend with affiliate links include social media scheduling tools (e.g., Agorapulse), graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Express) or your favourite business books with an Amazon affiliate link.

7. Lead Magnet Sign-Up Page

Email marketing is essential for a freelance social media manager because it allows you to maintain regular contact with your audience, build trust, and showcase your expertise. By sending informative and engaging emails, you can nurture leads and turn them into paying clients while also retaining existing clients and encouraging referrals.

But you need a way to get people on your email list in the first place, which is where a lead magnet comes in!

Offer something of value, such as an e-book, checklist, or exclusive content, to encourage visitors to sign up for your email list.

To help you get started, there are 34 lead magnet ideas here!

Make no mistake; potential clients will check out your social media channels to assess your credibility. So make sure your links are up to date and working.

Then ensure that your profiles are consistently updated, professional, and engaging. This will give potential clients confidence in your ability to manage their own social media presence effectively, as they’ll see your social media management skills in action.
